DIY Cinnamon Coffee Scrub
You can make an affordable, delicious smelling and effective scrub at home with just three simple ingredients: coffee grounds, ground cinnamon, and coconut oil. This can even make a cute homemade gift in a mason jar and ribbon! Since this is a homemade recipe and does not contain preservatives, I recommend only making this in small batches and using it within a couple weeks to a month. It will not expire, but may separate and not smell as fresh.
This scrub can be used all over the body to smooth and buff skin, especially on rough patches like elbows, knees, and anywhere you may have ingrown hairs- I get these a lot on my legs! This can be used very gently on the face as well since (caffeine has anti-inflammatory properties!)- I personally have dry skin and coconut oil does not break me out- but this will depend on the individual. Cinnamon may also cause a tingly sensation on the face.
Here’s how you make this:
¼ C. coconut oil
¼ C. coffee ground (used or fresh, either work just the same- but try a flavor if you want it to smell extra yummy, like hazelnut)
1 tbs. Ground cinnamon
Apply a generous amount to wet skin in the tub or shower.
You can adjust the amount of coconut oil as you see fit- if you want it extra scrubby, add a little extra coffee and a little less oil. Additionally, you can grind the coffee grounds from fresh beans into finer particles than the ones that are packaged and typically used for coffee machines- this allows you to use this scrub on your face without causing small abrasions.
Don’t forget to wash this off with soap and water, or your favorite cleanser, to break down the oil properly. Viola! You now feel energized and smooth. Enjoy, and comment below if you try it!
