7 Tips on How to be an Awesome Bridesmaid

August 30, 2017

So your girlfriend invited you to be in her wedding party, what an honor.  Now what?  There is more to do than just show up and look pretty.  Here is how you can be an awesome Bridesmaid.

1.  Offer to help stuff envelopes and assemble favors.

Hosting a casual get together with the bridemaids to stuff or address envelopes is a great help to a busy bride, and an excuse for the rest of the bridesmaids to bond.

2.  Be a safe harbor in stormy weather,

Planning a wedding can be a stressful event.  If you see her getting stressed out plan a day out to distract her.  Invite some of her bridesmaids if possible and use it as another bonding moment.

3. Don't complain - about ANYTHING.

Yes you may be stepping up to the plate like a home run champ, but don't point out how the other bridesmaids may not be hitting the ball.  She is aware, even if she doesn't say anything.  And if she does, just allow her to vent without throwing wood on the fire.

4.  Offer to pick up out of town guests or show them around.

Having cousins and friends visit from far away places can add stress to an already stressful time.  Offer to pick up and spend time with out of town guests, freeing up the Bride to do last minute things.

5. Ask the Bride or Maid of Honor if they need anything,

Simply asking what you can do would be a great help to the Bride.  She may not be used to delegating or feel uncomfortable asking people to do things for her.  Be proactive and offer your help and do so often.

6.  Offer to be the last maid standing.

After the wedding the Bride will be too tired to remember to get the cake topper, floral arrangements or piece of cake to be eaten on her 1 year anniversary.  Offer to be the person who will take care of those things for her.

7.  Monitor her Makeup

The night of the wedding the bride will be getting lots of hugs and kisses.  She will also be eating and drinking.  Carry her lipstick and makeup touch-up items for her.  If you see her lipstick is wearing off or she has Aunt Dolores' lipstick on her cheek, tell her it is time to freshen up her makeup so she looks picture perfect all night long!
