5 Winter Skin Care Tips for NJ Women

NJ Winters can be harsh!  Take steps to keep your skin glowing and beautiful.  Here are my top 5!  
 
 
 
1) Wash in Lukewarm Water

Using lukewarm water will protect your skin by not stripping away the natural oils - use lukewarm water especially for washing hands and face.. Also change your cleanser for winter months to accomodate your drier skin.  

 

2) Immediately use a toner after washing

A toner is often skipped by American women and is one product that should not be.  It removes any excess makeup you might have missed, it restores the PH balance to the skin and it prepares the skin to accept the moisturizer.  Use one designed your skin type.

 

3) Moisturize immediately after toner.

Your skin requires moisture regardless of the type of skin you have.  If you are oily your skin needs water - an oil free moisturizer will do the trick.  If you are Normal your skin needs a combination of oil and water.  If your skin is dry you need more oil and water.  Applying it while your face is still moist from toning will ensure better absorbtion into your skin

 

4) Humidify

Heating systems dry out the air, so consider installing a humidifier in your home, particularly in your bedroom, to put moisture back into the air and help prevent your skin from drying out. 

 

5) Drink Water

Drink at least 8 8oz glasses of water per day to plump up and moisturize your skin from with-in - you would be surprised at how much of a difference this can make.  Yes it is hard - but worth it!
