Hey Jersey Girl - Don't skip the Powder
Powder: The Key to Long Lasting Makeup
Why:
Powder is used after foundation to set it and prevent it from moving around your face. Many women want to skip this step because it is not a product they necessarily see and therefore do not understand the importance of it Without setting your makeup it lasts about 3 to five hours before it starts oxidizing (getting darker) and breaking down, giving you a weathered and tired look. With powder it will last 8-9 hours.
Powder also allows all of your other products to glide smoothly and seamlessly on top - if your foundation is not set any products placed on top can skip or blotch.
Powder Types
Powders come in either a loose or pressed form.
Loose Translucent Face Powder

Silky, loose powder imparts a soft, matte, cashmere finish. Use to set foundation and maintain skin perfection.
Baked Finishing Powder

Featherlight, sheer baked finishing powder. Tames shine and imparts a subtle radiance and polished luminosity. Available in matte and satin finishes
Invisible Blotting Powder

Sheer, universal blotting powder. Helps prevent oily breakthrough without drying skin; leaves skin smooth, fresh and matte.
Foundation Powder

Highly pigmented, jet milled powder foundation. Use wet or dry to minimize flaws and even tone.
How to apply powder after foundation application
1. Roll the sides of your brush in the powder - if you are using loose powder put some in the cap and do this. Give the brush a good shake.
2. Using the sides of the brush press/pat the powder on to the face with the side of the powder. Allow to fully set and dry foundation.
3. Now brush the powder off of the face, starting in the center, using clean uplifting brush strokes.
4. Put a little skin tone translucent powder on the edge of a wedge sponge and press the sponge right up to the bottom eye line and the under eye area. This will flatten and set the foundation closest to the eyes, and will prevent makeup from running under the eyes.
