• Look like yourself
If you’ve never worn makeup before or you don’t normally wear a lot of makeup then go for something a little more natural. Something you’re going to feel comfortable in, this is why trials are so important! You’re going to have these wedding pictures for the rest of your life so you don’t want to look back and wonder what was I thinking.
This goes the same for you if you wear a full face of makeup every day. You’re probably not going to want to be super natural, you’re going to want to have full on glam and that’s ok too. The most important thing to remember is that this is your special day, it should be all about you and you shouldn’t feel like a different person. Do what whatever makes you happy and makes you feel beautiful! But just don’t forget that trial before your big day!
• Get a facial
Treat your skin to a deep cleaning and exfoliating facial. Ideally I would probably start about 2 months before your wedding and get one every 2 weeks. What you need and how many really depends on the condition of your skin and what you want to achieve. If you’re strapped for cash go out and buy the products to use at home. Also I posted a great mask for all skin types that is sure to make a difference!
One thing to keep in mind is that facials will break you out because they’re drawing all the toxins and bacteria out of your skin, so don’t freak out if you get a facial and the next morning you wake up and you have a few new friends…completely normal! Just don’t start getting facials the week before your wedding just to be safe, give yourself a few months to treat your skin. This is definitely one of the most essential wedding makeup tips!
• Use long wearing products
The less you have to touch up the better! Ask your makeup artist what products they’re using on you and make sure they’re using products that aren’t going to move. This is where a professional makeup artist is essential - they know what primers, long wearing foundation, concealer, eye shadow base, setting spray.. (the list goes on and on) to use! Your makeup should last at least 12 hours looking fresh and pretty with minor touch ups (lipstick, blush).
• Appoint a makeup Guardian.
Ask your maid-of-honor or a bridesmaid to carry your lipstick and blush for you and let you know when it is time for a touch up - while you are eating, drinking and mingling with your guests you are not looking in a mirror - a friend keeping an eye on your makeup will ensure all of your wedding photos have you looking fresh and beautiful!
• Be in the moment
This day is going to fly by - you have spent, in many cases, a long time planning, coordinating and dreaming about this day. Don't sweat the small stuff - so if you ordered while tulips and white carnations show up - ignore it and go with the flow. Things can, and do go as unexpected - your guests have no clue what you planned and will think everything is perfect if you do too! Try to enjoy your own wedding, eat, dance and have fun!
